What the Whisper Was

Image to coincide with this short poem, about true love, written by me:

There once was a whisper that wanted to be heard.

She climbed to the top of the tallest mountain, but no one could hear her there.

She dug down 300 feet into the dirt, but no one could hear her there.

No one heard her in the middle of the tallest, spookiest woods...

nor did they hear her at the bottom of the deepest, bluest sea.

Then one day the whisper met a mouth...

and even though the whisper touched the tip of its tongue, the mouth could still not taste what the whisper was.

The mouth asked his friend the nose for help, but the nose was so excited he sucked the whisper right up into his nostrils...

and even though the whisper was stuck up the nose for 10 whole minutes, the nose could not smell what the whisper was.

The nose was certain that his friends the eyes could solve this mystery...

but even after a very serious staring contest, the eyes could not see what the whisper was.

The eyes invited the hands...

but they could not grasp what the whisper was.

Just when it seemed like they would never know what the whisper was...

the last of the friends arrived, the ears.

The ears instantly knew exactly what the whisper was...

and without any trying at all, the ears could hear that this whisper was a secret that had never been told...

and would never be told again.
